Streptococcal infections and decisions for the clinician (123625)

The diversity of Streptococcus species infecting humans and animals is matched by the diversity of presentations and sequelae seen by the clinician. There is a strong evidence base for many diagnostic and therapeutic decisions, but important gaps remain, both for empirical management before bacterial species identification and for directed therapy after a specific diagnosis. What antibiotics to use, should corticosteroids be added and how long to treat for are questions arising every day for the various streptococcal scenarios confronted by clinicians globally. Will there be audience consensus for some specific scenarios presented?
